NSW police charge man over sexual touching at Blacktown

A man will face court after allegedly sexually touching a child while at a shopping centre in Sydney’s west last week.

About 4pm on Thursday 8 October 2020, an 8-year-old girl was shopping with her mother at a shopping centre in Patrick St, Blacktown when a man approached her from behind and allegedly slapped her on the buttocks, before walking away.

The incident was reported to officers from Blacktown Police Area Command who commenced an investigation.

Following a public appeal, police arrested a 57-year-old man at Redfern Police Station about 4.10pm yesterday (Sunday 11 October 2020).

He was charged with intentionally sexually touch child under 10 years.

The Waterloo man was refused bail to appear before Central Local Court today (Monday 12 October 2020).
