A man will appear in court charged over firearms and weapons offences following an ongoing joint NSW Police Force investigation.
Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Organised Crime Squad and Western Region established Strike Force Mactier to investigate criminal networks in the state’s Central West.
As part of their joint inquiries, strike force investigators, assisted by the Rural Crime Prevention Team, Region Enforcement Squad and Police Rescue, executed a search warrant at a property on Warrys Road, Hill End, about 70km north of Bathurst, on Wednesday 25 September and Thursday 26 September 2019.
During the search, police seized four handguns, a tablet press, firearm scopes, and ammunition, two stolen vehicles and a small amount of MDMA.
Strike force investigators also seized large machinery and earth moving equipment, believed to be stolen or the proceeds of crime, with an estimated value of more than $500,000.
Following extensive inquiries, Organised Crime Squad detectives arrested a 49-year-old man following a vehicle stop on Biloela Street, Villawood, just after 10am today (Wednesday 6 November 2019).
He was taken to Bankstown Police Station and charged with 14 offences, including possess unauthorised pistol (x4), not keep firearm safely-pistol (x4), possess ammunition without holding licence/permit, possess tablet press or drug encapsulator, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit (x3), and possess more than three unregistered firearms.
The Villawood man was refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court today.
