Three men have been charged as part of ongoing proactive domestic violence-related taskings in the Riverina Police District.
Officers attached to the Southern Region Domestic Violence High Risk Offender Team, assisted by Wagga Wagga Region Enforcement Squad (RES), and officers from Tumut Police Station, conducted Apprehended Domestic Violence Order Compliance (ADVO) checks across Tumut yesterday (Thursday 20 January 2022), and arrested three men for domestic violence-related offences.
Incidents of note include:
- About 2pm yesterday, police attended a home at Herbert Street, Tumut, and spoke with two occupants. A 40-year-old man was arrested and taken to Tumut Police Station, where he was charged with contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO. He was refused bail to appear at Cootamundra Local Court today (Friday 21 January 2022).
- Around 3.20pm yesterday, police arrested a 32-year-old man at a home on Hudson Street, Tumut. He was taken to Tumut Police Station and charged with contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO. He was refused bail to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Friday 21 January 2022).
- About 8.30pm on Monday 3 January 2022, police were called to a home on Fitzroy Street, Tumut, following reports of an assault. Following inquiries, officers attended the home and arrested a 64-year-old man about 9.40am yesterday. He was taken to Tumut Police Station and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV). He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Tumut Local Court on Monday 21 March 2022.

Police will continue to conduct Apprehended Domestic Violence Order Compliance (ADVO) checks to prevent and disrupt domestic and family violence across the state’s Southern Region.
