NSW police charge three after break-in; police pursuit at Tamworth

Three people have been charged following a break-in and police pursuit in the state’s north east last week.

Just after 6pm on Thursday 17 March 2022, a home on Bandalong Street at Hillvue was broken into and a Hyundai Tuscon was stolen.

Police initiated a number of pursuits throughout Tamworth that were later terminated for safety concerns.

Following inquiries, about 3.50am on Friday, police arrested four people in Cossa Street, Tamworth. They were all taken to Tamworth Police Station.

A 19-year-old man was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner and goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.

He appeared at Tamworth Local Court on Saturday 19 March 2022, where he was formerly refused bail to re-appear on Monday 28 March 2022.

A 17-year-old boy was charged with deal with property proceeds of crime, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner and custody of knife in public place.

A 14-year-old boy was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.

Both teens were given conditional bail to appear at a children’s court on Tuesday 19 April 2022.

A 15-year-old boy was dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.

These arrests are part of Operation Southbreak 2022 and in the past two months 67 arrests have been made by Oxley Proactive Crime Team.
