Three men will face court today charged with large commercial drug supply after the Organised Crime Squad seized $6.8 million worth of MDMA and methylamphetamine.
In January 2019, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Organised Crime Squad and officers from the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission established Strike Force Watling to investigate the supply of illicit drugs across Sydney.
Following extensive inquiries, strike force detectives arrested a 25-year-old Granville man and a 28-year-old Meadowbank man at a car park at Pendle Hill, about 1pm yesterday (Thursday 11 April 2019).
During a search of the men and a vehicle, investigators seized 5kg of MDMA, which has an estimated potential street value of more than $1.5 million.
Police will allege in court that the men were at the location to supply the drugs.
A short time later, investigators arrested a 32-year-old Parramatta man at a shopping centre on The Boulevarde at Strathfield.
About 3pm the same day, strike force detectives executed search warrants at homes at Meadowbank, Granville and Parramatta, where they located a further 10kg of methylamphetamine, 1kg of MDMA, drug paraphernalia, cash, mobile phones, and electronic devices.
These items were seized to undergo forensic examination.
The total estimated potential street value of the drugs seized throughout the investigation is $6.8 million.
The Granville man was charged with four counts of supply prohibited large commercial quantity.
The Meadowbank man was charged with five counts of supply prohibited drug large commercial quantity.
The Parramatta man was charged with three counts of supply prohibited drug large commercial quantity, two counts of drive motor vehicle during disqualification, and recklessly deal in proceeds of crime.
All three men were refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Friday 12 April 2019).
