NSW police charge two after guns, ICE seized from unit at Rosebery

Two people have been charged, and firearms and drugs seized, after a search warrant was executed at a Rosebery overnight.

Officers attached to South Sydney Police Area Command attended the home on Mentmore Avenue shortly before 6pm (Monday 17 August 2020), and attempted to contact the occupants.

A short time later, officers from the Tactical Operations Units (TOU) forced entry into the unit and arrested a 33-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman inside.

During the search, two handguns, firearm parts, two electronic stun devices and several mobile phones were seized.

Drugs including methylamphetamine, and powder suspected of being cocaine, were also found and will undergo further examination.

The couple were taken to Mascot Police Station where the man was charged with 19 offences, including goods suspected stolen in/on premises, possess unauthorised pistol (x2), possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit (x2), possess/attempt to, prescribed restricted substance (x2), acquire pistol part without authority (x5), possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority (x2), and possess a prohibited drug (x5).

He was refused bail to appear in Central Local Court today (Tuesday 18 August 2020),

The woman was charged with possess/attempt to, prescribed restricted substance and goods suspected stolen in/on premises.

She was granted conditional bail to appear in the Downing Centre Local Court on Monday 7 September 2020.
