Two men will appear in court today charged over an alleged aggravated break and enter in the state’s north west.
About 8.50pm on Monday 23 December 2019, police will allege a group of males – two armed with a baseball bat and sharpening tool – forced their way into a house on Swan Street, North Tamworth.
The occupants, three men aged 22, 22 and 24, were threatened and assaulted before the males stole personal identification, mobile phones, laptops and car keys.
Officers from Oxley Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation under Strike Force Freddie.
The three men were taken to Tamworth Hospital in a stable condition.
Following extensive inquiries, investigators, with assistance from Bass Hill Region Enforcement Squad (RES), executed a search warrant at a home on Lansdowne Street, Merrylands, at 10am on Tuesday (28 January 2020).
During the search, police located and seized personal identification and other property believed to be stolen.
About 3.40pm yesterday (Wednesday 29 January 2020), detectives arrested a 22-year-old man at a home in Coolibah Street, Merrylands before he was taken to Granville Police Station.
Not long after, a second man, aged 22, was arrested at a property in Lansdowne Street, Merrylands, and he was also taken to Granville Police Station.
Both men were charged with aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence, robbery in company, detain in company with intent to get advantage occasion actual bodily harm, destroy or damage property and receive/dispose stolen property.
The two men were both refused bail to appear in Fairfield Local Court today (Thursday 30 January 2020).
Investigations are continuing.
