A woman has been charged after she allegedly stabbed a man in an unprovoked attack at a fishing jetty in Berkeley this morning.
About 7am (Friday 27 November 2020), a woman has approached a man, who was fishing at a boat ramp, and verbally abused him.
The woman, aged 32, allegedly armed herself with a fishing knife and stabbed the man in the leg before throwing his belongings, including the knife, into the water.
Witnesses have come to his aid and contacted emergency services.
Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District attended and established a crime scene.
The 22-year-old man was taken to Wollongong Hospital for treatment for a stab wound to his left thigh. His injuries are not considered life threatening.
The woman was arrested at the scene and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station. She was charged with wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
She was refused bail and will appear in Wollongong Local Court today (Friday 27 November 2020).
