A woman will face court today charged with over 130 fraud related offences following an investigation by Financial Crime Squad detectives.
In January 2018, State Crime Command’s Financial Crimes Squad established Strike Force Naiooka to investigate identity fraud offences by a criminal syndicate in Sydney’s inner west from 2016 to 2018.
Following extensive investigations, detectives arrested a 37-year-old man at Redfern Police Station in November 2018. He remains before the courts facing 162 fraud related charges.
As a result of ongoing inquiries, strike force investigators arrested a 32-year-old woman at Tamworth Police Station about 1.20pm yesterday (Monday 8 September 2020).
She was charged with 132 fraud related offences including deal with identity information to commit indictable offence, possess identity information to commit indictable offence, dishonestly obtain property etc by deception and dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception.
Police will allege that the woman was involved in a criminal syndicate dishonestly obtaining information on individuals through a mobile SIM card swap scam and using it for financial benefit.
The woman was refused bail to appear Tamworth Local Court today (Wednesday 9 September 2019).
Inquiries under Strike Force Naiooka are continuing.
