NSW police lay charges after $30,000 worth of prohibited drugs seized

A man will face court today charged after prohibited drugs, drug paraphernalia and cash were seized from a home and car in Sydney’s south.

As part of ongoing inquiries into the supply of prohibited drugs across Sydney’s south, investigators from Redfern Region Enforcement Squad (RES) were patrolling in the Sutherland region yesterday (Friday 20 March 2020).

About 4.30pm, officers stopped a vehicle on Garnet Street, Kareela, and spoke with the driver, a 43-year-old man. Investigators allege when the vehicle was searched, they found cocaine and $1500 cash.

The man was arrested and taken to Sutherland Police Station.

A short time later, officers executed a search warrant at a home in Sylvania Road, Miranda.

During a search of the property, police seized 62g of cocaine, 92g of MDMA, MDMA tablets, 146g of cannabis, prescription medication, a tablet press, replica firearms, ammunition, a further $17,000 in cash and drug paraphernalia.

The seized drugs have an estimated potential street value of $30,000.

The 44-year-old man was charged with three counts of supply prohibited drug, possess prohibited drug, deal in proceeds of crime, possess tablet press, and five counts of possess unauthorised firearm.

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 21 March 2020).
