NSW police lay charges after fatal crash near Mudgee

A man has been charged after a fatal crash in the state’s central-west earlier this year.

Just after 6pm on Monday 20 January 2020, emergency services were called to Guntawang Road, Galambine, north of Mudgee, after reports a Ford Territory SUV and a small truck had collided.

Despite the efforts of NSW Ambulance paramedics, a 34-year-old female passenger in the SUV died at the scene.

The 30-year-old male driver and a 23-year-old female passenger of the SUV were treated and taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The truck driver, a 55-year-old man, was not injured.

Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Following inquiries, investigators arrested the 30-year-old man at a home in Mudgee just after 11am today (Friday 17 April 2020).

He was taken to Mudgee Police Station, where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death – drive manner dangerous, negligent driving occasioning death, two counts of cause bodily harm by misconduct in charge of motor vehicle, and negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm).

The man was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear before Mudgee Local Court on Wednesday 17 June 2020.
