NSW police seek information after police officer hit by car at Wellington

Police are appealing for information after an officer was injured while attempting to stop a vehicle in the state’s central west this morning.

At 1.05am (Thursday 27 June 2019), officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District engaged in a pursuit with a black Holden Colorado in the Wellington area.

The 4WD has driven into a shallow river crossing at the Macquarie River and the pursuit was terminated.

A short time later, about 1.20am, the officers spotted the 4WD again at a dirt road leading away from the river and have attempted to stop the vehicle, with one officer exiting the police car.

The vehicle has driven towards the officer, striking him with the bull-bar to his chest area. The car then drove away.

The officer suffered minor injuries to his wrist and legs.

He was taken to Wellington Hospital and was transferred to Dubbo Hospital for further treatment.
