NSW police update: Officer injured, woman charged at Cobar

A woman will appear in court today after a police officer was assaulted at a golf club in Cobar.

About 11.50pm (Saturday 20 July 2019), officers from Central North Police District were called to a golf club on Murray Street, after reports a female patron was refusing to leave.

When police attempted to restrain the 25-year-old woman, she allegedly resisted and hit a female constable in the face with a schooner glass.

The female constable was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Cobar Public Hospital for treatment. She was later flown to Sydney for specialist treatment.

The woman was taken for an assessment, and on release was taken to Cobar Police Station.

She has since been charged with behave in offensive manner in/near public place, excluded person fail to leave premises when required, wound person with intent to resist/prevent arrest, and resist or hinder officer in the execution of duty.

The Cobar woman was refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court today (Monday 22 July 2019).
