Officers and staff members bestowed with awards in Moreton District Honours and Awards Ceremony

Mr Shane King MP, State Member for Kurwongbah joined Moreton District Officer Superintendent Bill Graham, in Caboolture for a morning of recognising Queensland Police Service (QPS) staff members and officers for their excellent efforts within the Moreton District on Thursday, November 21.

Assistant Commissioner of Southern Region, Mike Condon said each of the recipients were deservedly recognised for their continued efforts in their respective roles.

“Each and every one of those awarded have shown their commitment, not only to themselves in their career but also to the Service and the community of Moreton,” Assistant Commissioner Condon said.

“It takes an incredible amount of work, sacrifice and diligence to continue to excel in a profession that is already so demanding on a day to day basis.

“Those recognised have shown that they continue to strive for excellence and continue to raise the standard to which they are held in the Moreton District.

“Every recipient is a credit to their colleagues, Moreton and the Service as a whole.”

The ceremony saw the presentation of more than 30 awards, at both national and QPS level.

Senior Constable Matthew Grace was awarded the Queensland Police Valour Medal for displaying exceptional bravery in hazardous circumstances when apprehending an armed offender at Mackay in October 2017.

Constable Paul Mackin was presented with a Commissioner’s Certificate for retrieving a man from a partially submerged vehicle in a dam in June last year.

Sergeant Melissa Bicanic was awarded the Queensland Police Exemplary Conduct Medal.



Detective Senior Constables Shondelle Canning, Stuart McIntyre and Daniel Packenham were presented with their detective certificates.



Several officers were recognised for their achievements in their respective areas.

Senior Constable Brendan Smith was awarded Traffic Officer of the Year.

Constable Robbie Paul was awarded General Duties Officer of the Year.

Detective Senior Constables Kim Rasker and Ben Hiller were awarded Investigators of the Year.

Senior Constable Stephen Douglas was named the District Adopt-A-Cop for 2019.

A number of officers were awarded District Officer Certificates, recognising their actions during incidents and investigations within the Moreton District.










Alongside these awards, 15 officers were awarded Queensland Police Service Medals and clasps in recognition of significant years of diligent and ethical service.

Mr King presented Senior Sergeant Mark Braithwaite and Senior Constable Michael Smith with National Medals and clasps.
