Operation targeting property crime at Wagga Wagga, NSW

Police from the Riverina Police District located an axe, flick knife and baton during an operation on Friday (10 May 2019).

‘Operation Saber’ conducted on Friday evening targeted ‘hotspots’ throughout the Wagga township recently affected by property crime.

The operation utilised resources from Wagga Wagga General Duties, Region Enforcement Squad, and the Dog Unit.

During the operation 12 officers conducted searches of 42 people, locating a tomahawk, flick knife, extendable baton, laser pointer and three knives on separate individuals.

Officers made four drug detections and arrested two people on outstanding warrants.

Two drink driving offences were recorded as well as one drug driving offence.

12 charges were laid.

Similar operations are expected to be conducted in the future.
