Some of the world’s most influential defence and security leaders are set to descend on Perth, as the Indian Ocean Defence & Security Conference returns to Optus Stadium in July.
In a year where geopolitical tensions are on the rise and Russia has brought war to Ukraine, the top names in defence and security will gather in Perth for the two-day event.
Some of the high-profile speakers already confirmed for the conference include India’s Ambassador to China Mr Shivshankar Menon, BAE Systems Australia Chief Operating Officer Mr Darren Kirkby and Research Professor at the Indonesian Institute of Sciences Dr Dewi Fortuna Anwar.
Focusing on the emerging security relevance of the Indian Ocean, topics will include AUKUS, cyber security, the importance of technology and innovation advancement, and growing sovereign capability and the defence industry.
The emergence of Western Australian resource sector innovators in the defence and security space will also take centre stage for the first time, showcasing how technological innovation and advances in the commercial sector may make an increasingly dangerous world safer.
Among these innovators is the company Fugro, which has developed an unmanned surface vessel conducting subsea inspections and maintenance off the WA coast.
This year’s conference will take place on July 26 and 27, 2022.
