Orange City Library book sale to raise funds for Lismore Library

Orange Council

Kicking-off on Saturday 8 October, Orange book lovers can find great bargains at the Orange City Library book sale and support a flood-affected community.

The book sale will return for a second time this year to support the flood-affected Lismore community. This is an opportunity for avid readers to satisfy their passion while doing something worthwhile for the community.

Called the ”Library Lovers’ Sale”, old library stock will be for sale with some previously donated items. Books will be sold for $1 and magazines for 20 cents. All the funds raised on the day will be donated to Lismore Library.

Orange City Council’s Services Policy Committee Chair, Cr Mel McDonell said it was a great initiative.

”It’s a great opportunity to expand your collection at home while supporting the Lismore community,” Cr McDonell said.

“Giving a pre-loved book or magazine a new home is a simple way we can all help the Lismore Library rebuild and offer its programs and services to a community that lost so much in the February floods.

”The library is such a community hub for people to gather. It’s a central place in the heart of residents, that’s what makes this library sale so important.”

“The first book sale in May was a very popular event, with lots of items to discover and collect, so I encourage everyone not to miss out.”

The Library Lovers Book Sale will be held from 9.30am to 4pm at the undercover area in front of Orange City Library in Byng Street.

Payments can be made by EFTPOS or cash. Residents are encouraged to bring their own carry bag on the day.
