Over $59,000 presented to communities in latest round of Council grants
Fifteen community groups and organisations benefited from the latest finale of the Community Development and Event Grants.

Last night, we presented 15 community grants to deserving community projects and events, totalling $58,906.

The grants, which are for up to $5000 each, are a way of Council helping non-profit and non-government groups, clubs and organisations deliver new projects for the benefit of the local community.

The successful grant winners were:

  • ANGLE VALE FOOTBALL CLUB – $2,000 grant to help introduce netball to its facility by hosting a community launch.
  • BURUNDIAN WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA – the association’s members will soon have new dance uniforms and other items as a result of the $5,000 grant.
  • CITY OF ELIZABETH PIPE BAND – the band will use its $5,000 grant to create a YouTube video to promote participation among young people via primary schools and the broad community.
  • COS WE CARE – the $5,000 grant will be used to fit out the truck and add signage
  • MIDWAY ROAD COMMUNITY HOUSE – the $4,800 grant to help deliver an anniversary event.
  • MUNNO PARA LITTLE ATHLETICS CENTRE – a $2,400 grant to support an end of season event in September, including “come and try” activities.
  • NORTHSIDE BOXING CLUB – the $5,000 grant will be used to purchase equipment for the women and kid’s classes.
  • ONE TREE HILL SCOUT GROUP – this group has been awarded $5,000 to expand its water-based activities by purchasing four new kayaks.
  • PENIEL FREE PENTECOSTAL CHURCH – the church will use it’s grant of $3,331 to purchase furniture and technology such as laptops for its homework club to encourage students to stay in school.
  • PLAYFORD AQUATIC CLUB – the club will use its $2,000 grant to help host two swimming carnivals at our Aquadome this year.
  • PLAYFORD ATHLETIC CENTRE – Playford Athletic Centre put its $4,000 grant towards hosting a come and try event in September as part of its 50th birthday celebrations.
  • PLAYFORD CITY BAND – the band will use its $5,000 towards running a networking program to improve its branding.
  • PLAYFORD MEN’S SHED – they will use their $3,375 of funding to buy caps, jackets and shirts embroidered with the Playford Men’s Shed logo.
  • PROJECT LADIES’ BUSINESS – the $5,000 grant will be used to stop “period poverty” and create a package of items young women can use.
  • SOUTH AUSTRALIAN BANGLADESHI COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION – the association used its $2,000 grant to host an International Mother Language Day last February.

Council currently has a new round of Community Development and Event grants open for local organisations and groups to apply. The grants close on 8 July, 2022.
