Graham Miller, newly appointed Director of Nursing for Mental Health at NBMLHD, leads a high-performing and compassionate workforce that is recovery-oriented and consumer-focused.

With more than 30 years’ experience, developing the role nurses play in supporting consumers through their recovery journey is Graham’ Miller’s top priority.
“My focus is to ensure that the consumer journey is the forefront of all our actions as a team,” says Graham.
Graham came to the local health district in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic to provide support to the Mental Health Incident Management Team. Having got a glimpse into the operations, service planning, and focus of the team, he happily returned as Director of Nursing when the opportunity arose.
In this role, Graham has been focused on building on the existing high performing nursing workforce at the facility.
“Our nurses are integral to mental health. My hope is that the nursing workforce at Mental Health continues to deliver a high standard of recovery, trauma informed and person-centred care across the District,” says Graham.
Graham aims to build relationships with his staff, so that he can support and maintain an agile and diverse team.
“I’d like to foster a culture where open discussions can nurture leadership, and to create sustaining change whereby nurses at Nepean Mental Health will be confident, capable and committed with an empathic and recovery oriented approach to consumer care,” says Graham.
