Pete Murray, Art Vs Science headline free concert

Australian music icon Pete Murray will be joined by Art Vs Science, local musicians Comfort Royale and Late November and Triple J Unearthed feature artist Cloe Terare at Street Beats this Friday.

The free music event is part of Tropic Fiesta, presented by QMUSIC and the North Australian Festival of Arts (NAFA).

Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said she was looking forward to rocking out at Street Beats on Friday.

Townsville City Council is committed to growing Townsville into a sustainable destination that embraces and participates in the arts, event and recreational activities.

“We are always looking for ways to encourage residents and visitors to embrace the arts, and we know that there’s no better way to do that than by throwing a street party,” Cr Greaney said.

“We know that the last two years have been challenging for artists, which is why we’re pleased to be partnering with QMUSIC to present this live music event. This event will also shine a spotlight on young artists, who are a focus for Council as we work to create a city that fosters the development of up-and-coming musicians.

“Street Beats will take over Flinders Street East with live music on two stages, food trucks, and activated restaurants for residents and visitors to enjoy.

“As an accessible event we’ve been sure to include a variety of food trucks that will cater to a wide range of dietary requirements so everyone can come down and enjoy the experience.”

Street Beats will run from 4pm to 9:30pm on Flinders Street East on Friday 19 May.
