Police have recovered wreckage from Port Phillip Bay following a plane crash in Mount Martha last weekend.
As part of a complex recovery operation, Water Police and Search and Rescue officers have lifted the large part of the aircraft from the water this morning.
The fuselage, which is around four metres wide and weighs around one tonne, was lifted by a crane and transported on a barge to Port Melbourne.
Any human remains, which are yet to be formally identified, will be recovered from the wreckage before the plane is further examined by the ATSB.
Two small planes collided over the bay, before one crashed into the water about 1.45pm on Sunday, 19 November.
The plane was located off the shore of Mornington the following day.
Police divers have carried out extensive searches and have been working to recover the aircraft since it was discovered earlier this week.
The occupants of the plane are believed to be a 56-year-old Brunswick man and a 30-year-old Surrey Hills man.
Investigators are working to establish the exact circumstances of the incident and investigations remain ongoing.
