There’s just three months remaining for families with school-aged children to apply for free home internet through a federal government program designed to bridge the digital divide.
The School Student Broadband Initiative will offer a free National Broadband Network (NBN) service until 31 December 2025 to up to 30,000 eligible families and carers with school-age children across the country, who currently lack an active NBN connection at home.
If you qualify, you will be issued a voucher which can be redeemed at any of the participating internet providers.
Mayor Glenn Docherty encouraged families to apply for the offer by 31 December 2024 to receive free home internet until the end of December 2025.
“This is a fantastic way for everyone to have equal digital access to support their education needs,” said the Mayor.
“As school curriculums increasingly transition to and use digital platforms for learning, having internet access at home has become essential. Playford families with schoolchildren who lack internet access at home will not be left at a disadvantage.”
To apply for the program, contact the National Referral Centre on 1800 954 610, Monday to Friday, 10am – 6pm (AEDT) or visit anglicarevic.org.au/student-internet.
The centre will ask some questions to see if an applicant is right for the offer and if they qualify, they’ll receive a voucher.
