Police appeal after suspicious fire in Doyalson

Police are appealing for the public’s help following a suspected deliberately lit fire in the state’s north last night.

Firefighters from NSW Rural Fire Service and Fire and Rescue NSW were called to a small grass fire at the intersection of Rutleys Road and the Pacific Highway, Doyalson about 8.30pm (Thursday 22 August 2019).

Once the fire was extinguished, a bottle with a wick implement protruding from it was located nearby.

Investigators are now appealing for the public’s assistance and are calling for anyone who may have captured dashcam footage while driving through the area around the time of the fire.

In particular, police are searching for a small blue sedan which was reported to be driving north toward Newcastle on the Pacific Highway around the time of the fire.
