The Major Collision Investigation Unit is investigating a fatal crash in Avondale Heights this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Wood Street and Military Road following reports of a crash between a car and motorbike about 3.50pm.
The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined.
It is believed two people were travelling on the motorcycle.
One person died at the scene and they are yet to be formally identified.
The second person has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.
Investigators are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash cam footage to come forward.
