Police arrest five in stolen car, South Australia

Five people, including a 12-year-old, were arrested overnight after a stolen car was dumped at Sturt.

Just before midnight Monday 25 April police spotted a White Mercedes Benz travelling along Seacombe Road with no headlights on. Checks on the car revealed it had been stolen from Hove in the afternoon of Monday 25 April.

As police went to follow the Mercedes it turned into the back streets of Sturt and was lost by patrols. Patrols called for the assistance of PolAir and Police Dog Zeus who were quickly in the area. A short time later police located the Mercedes dumped on Portland Avenue with crash damage.

Witnesses reported seeing five people run from the vehicle. Patrols set up cordons in the area and PD Zeus was sent into search. Zeus quickly located four juveniles and one adult hiding in front yards and placed them under arrest.

A 12-year-old Campbelltown boy has been charged with illegal use of motor vehicle and breach of bail. He did not apply for bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Youth Court today.

A 17-year-old Walkley Heights girl has been charged with illegal use of motor vehicle and was bailed to appear in the Christies Beach Youth Court on 23 June.

A 16-year-old Walkley Heights girl has been charged with illegal use of motor vehicle and was bailed to appear in the Christies Beach Youth Court on 23 June.

A 17-year-old Sturt boy has been charged with illegal use of motor vehicle. He did not apply for bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Youth Court today.

An 18-year-old Campbelltown man has been charged with illegal use of motor vehicle.
