Police arrest man after armed robberies in Prahran and St Kilda

Police made a quick arrest after a man allegedly robbed three convenience stores in Prahran and St Kilda early this morning.

It is alleged a man armed with a firearm entered a convenience store on Chapel Street in Prahran and made demands for cash just after midnight.

The attendant handed over a small amount of cash and the offender fled the scene.

It is also alleged the same man struck again at a convenience store on Acland Street in St Kilda about 1.20am and a short time later at a nearby service station on Barkley Street.

On both occasions, the victims’ have handed over a small amount of cash.

No one was injured.

Local police and detectives with the assistance of the Air Wing, K9, CIRT and Operational Response Unit searched the area.

Stonnington Crime Investigation Unit detectives arrested the man allegedly armed with an imitation firearm at the corner of Chapel Street and High Street just after 3am.

A 23-year-old St Kilda man is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
