Police arrest man after dangerous driving along Princes Highway

Warrnambool police have arrested a man following several alleged erratic driving incidents along the Princes Highway overnight.

A blue Holden Commodore sedan was seen by police allegedly driving at a fast rate of speed along the Princes Highway through Camperdown, Cudgee and Warrnambool between 5pm and 7pm yesterday.

It is alleged the Holden Commodore was overtaking vehicles on double lines and blind bends forcing vehicles to take evasive action to avoid a collision.

The Holden Commodore then allegedly lost control in a section of roadworks along the Princes Highway in Cudgee, spinning out of control and colliding with signage before driving away.

Police later sighted a second vehicle, a silver Ford Falcon sedan, allegedly driving erratically along the Princes Highway in Port Fairy about 9.00pm.

It is alleged the vehicle drove onto the wrong side of the road before police attempted to intercept it without success.

A 31-year-old man with no fixed place of address was arrested about 8.30am this morning in Casterton.

He is currently assisting police with their enquiries.

Anyone travelling on the Princes Highway between the above times, specifically through roadwork areas, who witnessed either of the vehicles or could provide dash cam footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report via www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
