Just before midday on Monday 10 January, police spotted a stolen white Audi sedan near Old Port Road and Tapleys Hill Road, Hendon. The driver didn’t stop for police and a short time later crashed into another vehicle near the intersection of Port Road and West Lakes Boulevard.

An elderly female driver of a Toyota Corolla was shaken by the collision. She was checked over by paramedics at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.

The driver of the stolen car ran off but was located nearby by police and arrested.

The 19-year-old Kilburn man was charged with illegal use, engage in police pursuit, drive dangerously to avoid police, leave the scene of a crash, drive unlicensed, aggravated serious criminal trespass and theft. He was refused police bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court tomorrow, Tuesday 11 January.

The Audi was reported stolen overnight during a break-in at West Lakes.

Both cars were towed from the scene.
