Police arrest man in connection with suspected murder of a woman in Ulverstone

A man has been arrested in connection with the suspected murder of a woman in Ulverstone earlier today.

Police were called to an address in Main St, Ulverstone at about 3am where a woman, aged 22 from NSW, was located deceased.

The deceased woman had injuries consistent with knife wounds.

The man was arrested at another address, also in Main St, at around 11am today.

Detective Inspector Kim Steven said:

“Any connection between the victim and the arrested man is currently a key area of focus for the investigation

“The victim had been staying at the house for 2-3 weeks, with the woman and young children who reside there.

“The triple zero call was made by the woman who lives at the address.

“She originally called police in relation to a prowler at the house and radio operators remained on the phone with her until police arrived,” he said.

Police continue to appeal for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area in the early hours of this morning to get in contact on 131 444.
