Detectives have charged six people in relation to the trafficking and supply of cocaine and methamphetamine, as part of ‘Operation Tango Prime’.
The arrests follow a six-month investigation by Fortitude Valley detectives into a drug distribution network and culminated in the execution of a number of search warrants in Brisbane and the Gold Coast over the past week.
The search warrants resulted in the seizure of 1.2kg of cocaine, 1.2kg of methamphetamine, a silver Glock 9mm handgun, over $90,000 in cash and a cannabis hydroponic setup.
A 24-year-old Coomera man, a 27-year-old Camp Hill man, a 23-year-old Broadbeach man and three 30-year-old men from Newstead were charged with multiple offences including trafficking, supplying and producing dangerous drugs, as well as money laundering and other related drug offences. They are due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court over the coming months.
Detective Inspector Glen Farmer from the City Valley Crime Group said the operation had been a success with a significant quantity of illicit drugs taken off the streets.
“This operation has resulted in the dismantling of a significant drug supply network in our community and as a result these illegal substances will not make it into the hands of vulnerable people”.
“The Queensland Police Service is dedicated to disrupting criminal activity and drug networks in our community and if people choose to get involved in the business of selling drugs, they can expect to be actively targeted by us and we make no apologies for that,” Detective Inspector Farmer said.
