Police arrest two men after dumping a car in Reservoir

Police have arrested two men after they crashed their car and tried to run from police in Reservoir early this morning.

Darebin detectives were patrolling in Lalor when the noticed the car travelling at a fast rate of speed on Dickens Street shortly before 12.30am.

Officers tried to intercept the car before it sped off and ran a red light at the intersection of High Street and Kingsway Drive.

The 2019 silver Kia Cerato narrowly missed another car which was forced to take evasive action to avoid a collision.

The Airwing then assisted units on the ground before stop sticks were deployed at Henderson Road.

Following a short pursuit, the car crashed into a ditch on Hickford Street in Reservoir and the driver and passenger tried to flee.

Police arrested the pair nearby following a short foot pursuit.

The 29-year-old driver was taken to hospital, under police guard, for treatment following the crash.

It is expected the Windsor man will be charged in relation to the incident with conduct endangering life, drive in a manner dangerous, commit indictable offences whilst on bail and other traffic offences.

His passenger, a 19-year-old from Reservoir, was interviewed by police and has been released pending further enquiries.
