Police assist with Mildura rescue

Two constables from Mildura police assisted in resuscitating a man who was pulled from the water in Mildura last night.

Police were called after the man was pulled from the Murray River about 8.45pm.

Witnesses commenced CPR on the 28-year-old Mildura man and when police arrived, the male and female constables took over.

He regained consciousness and was transported to hospital for observations.

Senior Sergeant Tim Jacobs from Mildura police said this is a reminder that our members can respond to just about any job when they are out there working in the community.

“We would like to also acknowledge the witnesses who assisted in pulling the man from the water, he said.

“These two members who have just a few years’ experience between them took over CPR and were able to assist is saving this man’s life.

“This is a timely reminder that people need to be careful around the water.

“Whether it be at the beach or river, we want everyone to be careful around water so they can enjoy the summer and get home to their families.”
