The garden brings together a community touched by the tragic loss of the two young Beaumaris residents in Laos in 2024, with words chosen by their families encouraging visitors to embrace life and cherish those closest to them.
“Live your best life, chase your adventures, be true to yourself, hold close what you love most,” the message reads.
Bayside Mayor Councillor Debbie Taylor-Haynes said the reserve was a fitting setting, reflecting activities Bianca and Holly loved, including walking their dogs, gathering with friends and playing football.
“Their loss has been felt far beyond those who knew them best. It has touched people across Bayside, Australia and indeed around the world,” she said.
“This space now offers a quiet place to pause, reflect and remember.”
The garden provides a place of remembrance, comfort and connection at the Griffiths Road end of the reserve.
Cr Taylor-Haynes said she hoped it would help keep their memories close.
“May it be a reminder that even in the most difficult of times, community connects us, supports us and helps us carry the memories of those we love forward.”
