Police car rammed in Thomastown

A 33-year-old woman has been arrested after a police car was rammed in Thomastown last night.

Mill Park police observed a vehicle with stolen plates in the drive-thru of a fast-food outlet at the corner of Dalton Road and Spencer Street about 5.45pm.

Officers on scene were out of the police car when it was rammed.

No-one was injured.

The male driver fled the scene and the female passenger was arrested.

The male offender is perceived to be Middle-eastern in appearance, aged in his 30s with short black hair and a beard.

He was wearing a grey t-shirt, black shorts and runners.

He was last seen running across Dalton Road into nearby houses along Rochester Drive and Darebin Drive.

Whittlesea Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating and are keen to speak to any witnesses.

The female of no fixed address has been charged and remanded with theft of motor vehicle and police ramming.

She will appear at Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court in the morning.
