Police charge driver after refusing breath test in North Albury

A man has been charged after allegedly refusing to provide a roadside breath analysis in North Albury this morning.

About 9.10am (Thursday 24 March 2022), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command at Albury attended Union Road after reports a Toyota Rav 4 had hit two parked cars – a Hyundai iLoad and a Toyota Corolla.

The drivers of the Corolla and Rav 4 underwent roadside breath tests which returned negative results.

Police will allege the driver of the Hyundai – a 58-year-old man – refused to provide a breath sample.

Following numerous attempts, the man underwent a roadside breath test which returned a positive result.

The man was arrested and taken to Albury Police Station, where he allegedly refused to provide a secondary breath analysis sample.

The man was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for refuse or fail to submit to breath analysis and his licence was suspended.

He will appear at Albury Local Court on Monday 11 April 2022.
