Police charge five men after brawl – Merrylands

Five men will appear in court today charged with affray following a brawl in Merrylands yesterday.

About 10.45pm (Friday 1 September 2021), police were called to Windsor Street, Merrylands, following reports of a brawl.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command arrived and found an 18-year-old man with facial injuries. He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

The man was reportedly injured after allegedly being assaulted during an altercation with four men who fled in a vehicle.

Police also located a hammer at the scene which was taken for forensic examination.

A short time later officers attached to the State Crime Commands Raptor Squad stopped an Audi hatchback travelling on Burnett Street, Merrylands.

Police removed four men, aged 28, 24, and two aged 26, from the vehicle.

The four men were arrested and as part of inquiries, the 18-year-old injured man was also arrested.

All five men were taken to Fairfield Police Station where they were charged with affray.

The 26-year-old man was also charged with not stop vehicle when directed to do so, not comply P1 licence and not keep left of diving line.

All five men have been refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 2 September 2023).
