Four youths have been charged after a pursuit with police in stolen vehicle in Sydney’s north west yesterday.
About 11.30am yesterday (Wednesday 12 August 2020), a Toyota Camry – reportedly stolen during a break-in at a Telopea home on Monday – attended a service station on Victoria Road, Ermington.
The driver filled the vehicle with petrol before allegedly driving off, failing to pay.
Later that day, officers from South West Metropolitan Traffic and Highway Patrol were patrolling Rydalmere after the Toyota had been seen in the area.
Just before 4.30pm, the Toyota was seen on Kirby Street before turning into Paul Street and accelerating away.
A pursuit was initiated travelling east before turning right into Dorahy Street and then right into Ronald Street.
A police vehicle stopped in Ronald Street was rammed by the Toyota before the driver, a 16-year-old boy and three passengers – two boys, aged 12 and 14, and a 13-year-old girl – were arrested.
They were taken to Auburn and Granville Police Stations.
The 12-year-old boy was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, and breach of bail.
He was refused bail to appear at a children’s court today (Thursday 13 August 2020).
The driver, aged 16, was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly, dishonestly obtain property by deception, and take & drive conveyance without consent of owner.
He was also charged with attempted aggravated break and enter with intent – armed, in relation to the alleged attempted break-in of an Auburn home on Tuesday (11 August 202).
The 14-year-old boy and 13-year-old girl were charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
The trio were granted conditional bail to appear at a children’s court on Wednesday 9 September 2020.
