Police charge man after aggravated burglary in East Melbourne

Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an aggravated burglary in East Melbourne this morning.

It’s alleged the man broke into a garage in St Helens Lane just before 2.30am and stole designer clothes and shoes.

He was arrested a short distance away in Grey Street by quick responding police.

The 25-year-old East Melbourne man was charged with aggravated burglary and theft and will face the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court this morning.

He was also issued with an infringement notice for breaching the Chief Health Officer’s direction.
