Police charge man after Prahran police seize drugs, cash and firearm

The Prahran Divisional Response Unit have arrested and charged a man with commercial drug trafficking after detectives seized significant quantities of illicit substances, including methylamphetamine from a residential address in Melbourne yesterday.

During the search of the Commercial Road address on 5 October, police seized:

– One handgun

– Approximately 590 grams of what is alleged to be methylamphetamine with a potential estimated street value of more than $100,000

– Approximately one litre of what is alleged to be GHB

– Large quantities of prescription drugs

– A small quantity of what is alleged to be heroin

– Approximately $14,900 cash

– One Harley Davidson suspected of being a proceed of crime

– Several false identifications

Detectives commenced their investigation on 31 May after police tracked a suspicious package to a residential address on Commercial Road, Melbourne. This led to police executing a search warrant in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The 59-year-old Prahran man has been charged with prohibited person in possession of a firearm, traffick a commercial quantity of methylamphetamine, traffick and possess methylamphetamine, traffick and possess GHB, possess heroin, possess prescription medication, failure to comply with direction, negligently deal property suspected of being the proceeds of crime, and make use of a false document.

The man arrested was subject to a Firearm Prohibition Order at the time of the warrant.

The man has been reamend to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 19 January 2023.
