Police charge man after theft of nurse’s car in Fitzroy

A man has been arrested following the alleged theft of a nurse’s car while she was working at a Fitzroy hospital on 21 December.

It is alleged a man attended a hospital on Victoria Parade and stole a handbag containing the victim’s car keys from a staff area.

A short time later, it’s alleged the victim’s car was stolen from the staff carpark.

It was recovered by police in Ballarat on Christmas day.

Officers from Fitzroy Uniform along with Ballarat Divisional Response Unit executed a warrant at a Newington address on 10 May.

A man was located nearby and arrested.

A 40-year-old Newington man has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, theft and drive while disqualified.

He has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 28 July.
