Detectives from the Arson and Explosives Squad yesterday charged a man in relation to a fatal fire in Wantirna earlier this month.
An 81-year-old Wantirna man was charged with arson causing death and criminal damage by fire.
He remains under guard in hospital and is expected to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 23 March, 2020.
The charges follow a fire at a residential property on Templeton Street, Wantirna on 11 December.
The body of a 76-year-old female resident was located at the property.
