A man has been charged over a fatal crash occurring earlier this year in thestate’s far west.
About 8.45am on Tuesday 28 May 2024, emergency services were called to the Barrier Highway, about 15km north-east of Broken Hill, following reports of a two-vehicle crash.
The driver of a Toyota Prado and two passengers of the D-Max were trapped for a short time before they were extracted and treated on scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
The driver of the Toyota Prado – a 75-year-old man – was taken to Broken Hill Base Hospital, where he later died.
The two passengers, a 61-year-old woman and 74-year-old man, and the driver of the Isuzu D-Max, a 61-year-old man, were taken to hospital in stable conditions.
A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this crash was undertaken by officers from the Crash Investigation Unit.
Yesterday (Thursday 1 August 2024), the driver of the D-Max attended Parkes Police Station where he was served with a Future Court Attendance Notice for dangerous driving occ death-drive manner dangerous and negligent driving (occasioning death).
He is due to appear at Broken Hill Local Court on Friday 13 September 2024.
