Police charge man over fatal Ingleburn crash

A man has been charged after a woman died in a crash Sydney’s south-west overnight.

Emergency services were called to Broadhurst Road, Ingleburn, about 11.40pm (Friday 4 August 2023), after reports a sedan had crashed into a truck parked near the intersection of Shaw Road.

NSW Ambulance paramedics attended; however, the front-seat passenger, a woman, believed to be aged in her 20s, died at the scene.

The driver, a 24-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and was taken under police guard to Liverpool Hospital for treatment and mandatory testing.

Officers attached to Campbelltown City Police Area Command established a crime scene while officers attached to the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The man was released into the custody of police this afternoon and was taken to Campbelltown Police Station where he has now been charged with three offences,

  • Dangerous driving occasioning death – drive manner dangerous
  • Negligent driving (occasioning death), and
  • Drive while licence application refused.

The man, from Yennora, has been refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow (Sunday 6 August 2023).
