Whitehorse Crime Investigation Unit (CIU) detectives have charged two people following an alleged assault in Blackburn North on Thursday.
A 35-year-old woman was charged with two counts of unlawful assault and one count of affray.
A 44-year-old man was charged with two counts of wilfully urging a dog to attack and one count of affray.
The pair, both from Box Hill North, were bailed to appear in Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on 25 March.
The charges relate to the alleged assault of a 51-year-old woman and a 43-year-old woman who were having a picnic at Slater Reserve on Grosvenor Street with two 12-year-old girls about 4.30pm.
Two male good Samaritans were also injured during the incident after being bitten on the hand by a dog.
The two 12-year-old girls were not physically injured during the incident.
The dog involved in the incident was taken by the local council ranger.
