Police Charge Three After Firearms Incident In Wyuna

Bendigo detectives have charged three people following a firearms incident in Wyuna last week.

It is understood a woman and two men attended a property on McManus Street just after 10pm on 17 February.

One of the men allegedly assaulted a male occupant and discharged a firearm.

The trio fled the scene prior to police arrival.

The 49-year-old man was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators believe the parties involved are known to each other.

Police executed a search warrant at a property on Kennewell Street, White Hills about 12.30pm yesterday afternoon.

Officers arrested a 26-year-old White Hills man and seized two firearms.

Police executed another search warrant simultaneously at a property on Hampshire Crescent, Shepparton.

A 48-year-old Shepparton woman was arrested at the scene.

An 18-year-old man self-presented to a police station later in the day.

The 26-year-old man has been charged with 21 offences, including:

• Intentionally Cause Serious Injury in Circumstances of Gross Violence

• Recklessly Cause Serious Injury in Circumstances of Gross Violence

• Intentionally Cause Serious Injury

• Common Law Assault

• Assault in Company

• Reckless Conduct Endanger Life

• Possess Loaded Firearm other place – Reckless Disregard

• Use loaded firearm in a non-public place with reckless disregard for safety

• Prohibited Person Possess a Firearm

• Possess Cannabis.

The 48-year-old woman was charged with:

• Intentionally Cause Serious Injury in Circumstances of Gross Violence

• Recklessly Cause Serious Injury in Circumstances of Gross Violence

• Intentionally Cause Serious Injury

• Recklessly Cause Serious Injury

• Common Law Assault

• Assault in Company

• Reckless Conduct Endanger Life

• Firearm – Possess/Carry/Use Unreg Cat A or B longarm

• Possess Loaded Firearm other place – Reckless Disregard

• Use loaded firearm in a non-public place with reckless disregard for safety

• Burglary

• W/O Auth/Excuse Enter Private Place

• Criminal Damage (Intent Damage/Destroy)

The 18-year-old man was charged with 13 offences, including:

• Intentionally Cause Serious Injury in Circumstances of Gross Violence

• Intentionally Cause Serious Injury

• Recklessly Cause Serious Injury

• Reckless Conduct Endanger Life

• Prohibited Person Use a Firearm

The trio were remanded to face Bendigo Magistrates’ Court today.
