Police charge three over break-in – Operation Boa

A man and two youths will face court today charged following an alleged break, enter and steal in the Central West.

Earlier this month, officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District established Operation Boa, targeting property-related crime in Dubbo and surrounds.

About 12am on Saturday (27 January 2024), a group of youths allegedly entered a home on Page Avenue, Dubbo, and stole keys to a Hyundai IX35 and a Kia Seltos.

Officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District attended and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

About 7am the same morning the Hyundai was located abandoned on the corner of Douglas and Wellington Street, Geurie, and was seized for forensic examination.

The Kia was located about 4.30am yesterday (Tuesday 30 January 2024), well alight in a park on the

Newell Highway, Dubbo.

Following inquiries, about 1pm yesterday (Tuesday 30 January 2024), officers attended a home in Dubbo and arrested a 13-year-old boy.

Police attended the same home about 10pm that evening and arrested an 11-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man.

The trio were taken to Dubbo Police Station.

All three were charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner with the 11 and 18-year-olds charged with breach of bail.

The two boys were refused bail to appear at a children’s court today (Wednesday 31 January 2024).

The 18-year-old was refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court today (Wednesday 31 January 2024).

Inquiries under Operation Boa continue.
