A man and teenager have been charged after handing themselves in after an attempted theft from motor car in Patterson Lakes last night.
Moorabbin Crime Investigation unit detectives charged a 20-year-old Frankston North man and a 17-year-old Carrum Downs boy this morning with:
Theft of motor vehicle
Reckless conduct endangering life
Tresspass
Criminal Damage
Traffic offences
The man is due to front Frankston Magistrates’ court and the boy is due to front a Children’s court later today.
An alert resident allegedly raised the alarm after they disturbed the males trying to break into a car in Hannalore Avenue in Patterson Lakes about 10.30pm.
The man called Triple Zero (000) and attempted to follow the pair in his own car before he was allegedly rammed and threatened with a weapon.
Police coordinated resources on the ground with assistance of the Airwing as the car travelled on Peninsula Link, Eastlink and the Monash out to Altona.
The older model Toyota was allegedly travelling at speeds up to 140-150km/h before it turned and continued to head back towards the south-eastern suburbs.
The pair, who it was allegedly threw items from their car at times, travelled back along the Monash, to Eastlink and then onto Cheltenham Road.
Detectives successfully deployed stop sticks in Chelsea before the duo continued south on Nepean Highway.
As police closed in on the pair, they allegedly drove into the Frankston police station carpark and got out of the allegedly stolen vehicle with their hands up.
