Police charge two with property offences at Albury

A man and woman have been charged with numerous property offences following investigations in the state’s south.

On Tuesday (27 June 2023), officers from Murray River Police District commenced inquiries after reports multiple vehicles had been broken into and property stolen throughout the Albury area.

One of the reports included the alleged theft of power tools from a motor vehicle in a carpark on Kiewa Street, Albury.

Following inquiries, police executed a search warrant at home on Union Road, Albury, about 10pm yesterday (Wednesday 28 June 2023).

During the search, police located and seized power tools, along with other items believed to have been stolen.

The occupants – 28-year-old woman and 29-year-old man – were arrested at the scene before being taken to Albury Police Station.

The 28-year-old woman was charged with following offences:

  • Attempt dispose property-theft, serious indictable
  • Possess of prohibited drug
  • Larceny value >$2,000 and
  • Three charges of dispose property-theft, serious indictable offence
  • Three charges of goods suspected stolen in/on premises

The 29-year-old man was charged with following offences:

  • Good Suspected stolen in/on premises
  • Two charges of Receive property-theft, serious indictable offence

The woman was refused bail to appear at Albury Local Court tomorrow (Friday 30 June 2023) and the man was granted conditional bail to appear at the same court on Wednesday 5 July 2023.

Local police continue inquiries to identify the owners of the recovered property.
