A woman will face court tomorrow after allegedly leading police on a pursuit through Sydney’s south-west today.
About 11.15am (Tuesday 13 April 2021), a 29-year-old woman was driving a Hyundai SUV on Myrtle Road, Bankstown, when she was noticed by police.
Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command attempted to pull her over, however, she failed to stop.
She continued driving through local streets of Bankstown to evade police until she crashed her car into a guard rail at the railway underpass where Brunker Road meets Ferrier Road, Birrong.
Officers positioned their vehicle in front of the Hyundai to prevent her from driving away however, the woman allegedly rammed her car into the police vehicle.
Officers managed to arrest the woman as she was climbing out the window of her car.
Police will allege the woman attempted to bite officers as they placed her under arrest.
She was taken to Bankstown Police Station where she was charged with a total of 16 offences including police pursuit, drive while disqualified, use offensive weapon to prevent detention, escape custody, drug offences, fraud, possess identity information and steal from dwelling.
She was refused bail and will appear in Bankstown Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 14 April 2021).
