Police continue to investigate incidents in Corio

Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives continue to investigate a police-ramming in Corio early this morning.

While police were travelling along Purnell Road to attend reports of shots being fired at an address on that road, a grey Ford sedan drove onto the wrong side of the road and attempted to ram a police vehicle around 2.15am.

Police then located the vehicle a short time later at the intersection of Thompson Road and The Boulevard, Norlane, where it rammed an unmarked police car.

No police members were injured as a result of the collision.

The car drove off and was dumped on Alkira Avenue where the occupants fled.

A short time later police arrested a 23-year-old Norlane man and a 43-year-old Norlane woman, who are currently assisting police with their enquiries.

The arrests follow reports of shots being fired at a property on Purnell Road about 2am.

Police attended the scene and there was no evidence of shots being fired or anyone being injured.

Investigations into both incidents remain ongoing, however at this stage it’s not believed the incidents are linked.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, has CCTV/dash cam footage or with information that could assist investigators is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.auExternal Link.
